Philippe Mayaux, born in 1961, lives and works in Paris. Painter, sculptor, inventor of strange machines, he received the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2006. His work has been exibited at the MAMCO (Geneva), at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and in 2014, during the exhibition “Lost (in LA)” curated by Marc-Olivier Wahler at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery and produced by FLAX.
Influenced by the Californian art scene, his work resonates with L.A.-based artists like Jim Shaw. His residency with FLAX Invites offers him a new opportunity to immerse himself in the Los Angeles art scene.
