FLAX Project

Lola Gonzàlez

FLAX invites French emerging video and performing artist Lola Gonzàlez, recipient of France’s prestigious Meurice Price 2016 and nominated for Prix Ricard 2017, to create a new in situ project inspired by the landscape of the city.

During her research residency in January 2017, Lola Gonzàlez has presented her video Y Croire (Believing), 2011, for “La Nuit des Idées” organized by the French Cultural Services on January 26, 2017 at 7 pm at Bergamot Station. Learn more.

During the second part of her residency from July 1 to August 1, Lola will present “The Distance is beautiful. La distance la plus courte entre deux points n’est pas une ligne droite”, a performance based on the participation of professional and non-professional performers culminating in a free public performance on July 22 2017 on Grand Park. Lola develops a new collaborative process with two Los Angeles-based artists, choreographer and dancer Oguri and composer and sound designer Paul Chavez. The participants attend workshops led by professional dancers providing space for reflection about the body, Butoh dance, and the local landscape.

FLAX also produced a new video artwork by Lola Gonzàlez that was presented in Paris for the Prix Ricard in September 2017.
